Dynaco Heritage

It all began in 1987

Dynaco is founded in 1987 by Benoit Coenraets. Passionate to find a solution to avoid damages on rigid roll-up doors by occasional hits, he invents the flexible roll-up door and introduces the first ‘self-repairing’ Dynaco roll-up door to the market, later known as the ‘Classic’ door. In 1995, he invents the revolutionary ‘Push-Pull’ technology, marketed as the ‘Magic’ door. This high-speed door becomes the standard for our current M2 and M3 series.

Expanding the territory to different European countries, sales rapidly increase. Thanks to the continued successes, Dynaco moves to Moorsel in a 9000 m² facility close to Brussels.

Dynaco continues to expand its horizon. In 1998, Bunka Shutter, a major player on the Japanese high-speed door market, becomes Dynaco’s first license partner. An important milestone in the company’s history. A year later, a Dynaco division is founded in Chicago, locally producing the Dynaco high-speed doors for the American market.

The success of the small Belgian company does not go unnoticed and in 2000, Dynaco receives the prestigious ‘Royal Export Award’ from Prince Philippe, the current King of Belgium.

In the beginning of the 21st century, Benoit Coenraets delegates the daily business to Olivier Coune, CEO, and Fred Bostyn, COO. A lot of new product patents are developed, such as the ‘bead’ technology (2002), the ventilated Dynaco drum motor (2004), and the low friction bead (2007).

The company confirms its role as a trendsetter by launching a state-of-the-art e-business tool, unique in the high-speed roll-up door business at that time.

Between 2007 and 2011, the company continues to grow. It concludes partnerships with Nassau and ASI and acquires the US company Teledoor. In 2007, the American subsidiary moves to a bigger facility to meet the surging demand for high-speed doors. A year later, Dynaco starts selling the first high-speed doors in Russia in cooperation with a local partner.

Further product developments are launched: the PPS, a new silent Push-Pull strap (2007), the D-501 series (2007) and the WDD, a wireless detection system at the bottom edge of the roll-up door (2010).

2012 is a turning point for Dynaco: the company becomes the high-performance door specialist within Entrematic, a division of Assa Abloy. This gives the company new oxygen to continue its growth. The following year, the first Dynaco high-speed doors are produced in China for the local Chinese dealer network and a license agreement is signed with one of the leading high-speed door manufacturers in Brazil.

To bring dealer support to a higher level, the Dynaco Academy is created, with modern training facilities and a showroom displaying all high-speed door models of the Dynaco brand.

The important organizational changes do not stop Dynaco from inventing new and high-quality products. The launch of the Dynaco S-5 Atex doors in 2015 answers the need for a fully certified high-speed door for explosion-sensitive environments. In 2018, they are followed by the D-6 series, a new range of ultra-silent, maintenance friendly and technically advanced high-speed doors.

At the same time, the R&D team focuses on add-ons that bring high-speed doors up to speed with the future, such as the Dynalogic 5 control box, a future-proof door management system offering a panoply of possibilities in terms of optimizing door operation, supervision, connectivity, and energy savings.

In 2019, Mark Driscart becomes General Manager for HPD Europe. Under his lead, integration of Dynaco into the Assa Abloy group reaches a next level, offering the dealer network the advantages of an extended product portfolio. Thus, Dynaco adds sectional overhead doors to its door range in 2020: the Dynaco I-14F Frame and Dynaco I-14P Panel.

Further improvements are also made to the existing portfolio, standardizing the advanced control box Dynalogic 4 and the Advanced WDD (wireless bottom detector) on all Dynaco doors.
