DYNACO’S SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS: MORE IMPACT, LESS CO2

Running your business in a sustainable way has become a priority, now more than ever. Not only do you want to meet the stricter rules and regulations imposed by governments world-wide, but also those of financial institutions and property companies looking to reach their sustainability goals in order to secure their investments. Furthermore, there is a growing demand among end-customers for more energy-efficient, qualitative and durable solutions. Add to this the impact on your own company - rising energy costs, for instance - and it becomes clear that sustainability is one of the most important challenges for the industry.

Dynaco, dedicated to making a difference

At Dynaco we are always AHEAD. That is why we are constantly working on making our products more sustainable, both in how they are made and how they are used. Furthermore, all Dynaco doors have been made to last (and last), with opening cycles up to 2.000.000.

Durable door solutions

To map our product range, we are developing EPD’s (Environmental Product Declaration), tracking the origin of all components used in our products. For example: Is the steel used in our product made from recycled materials? Was it produced using green energy? How CO2 neutral are the logistics used to bring it in? Can our products be recycled or even better re-used? This enables our customers to better understand the climate impact of a product.

Our sectional overhead doors such as the Dynaco I-14F, the Dynaco I-14P and the latest additions, Dynaco’s I-14S and I-18P are produced according to the ‘cradle to cradle’ principle, which aims to create as little (to no) waste at all. The aluminium used for the tubular profiles is made from scrap material and can be recycled and reused after the door’s life cycle expires. An added bonus is the chloride-free insulation material, which not only contributes to the doors’ energy-saving potential, but also limits any unnecessary impact on the environment.

Energy-saving potential

Next to the materials and production methods used, we strive to optimise the energy-saving potential of our doors. Energy consumption of buildings represents more than 40% of CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions in Europe today, with doors having a much higher impact than is widely recognized.

Over the past decades, the industry has been working hard to change the perception that doors as being purely static. Instead, they should be viewed as a dynamic part of a building, and therefore, an integral part in energy-saving initiatives.  Most doors in industrial or commercial environments require regular and high-frequency opening and closing cycles throughout the day, even exterior ones. The higher the opening frequency, the more significant its cycling speed will be.

In other words, when it comes to energy loss, it is not only a door’s insulation properties that matter. Any extra heating or air-conditioning needed whenever a door is opened also has a significant impact on your total energy consumption. To keep energy loss through air infiltration at a minimum, our flexible high-speed doors have a significantly faster opening speed - up to 3.6 m/s for Dynaco’s D6-model, compared to 0.25 m/s for a standard sectional overhead door -  which will help to keep your ecological footprint in check.

Looking for an exterior door that offers the best of both worlds in terms of energy-saving? Our RIGID-R741 next-generation, hybrid door not only offers excellent thermal performance, but also an opening and closing cycle that far exceeds that of the standard rigid doors.

Dynaco, your certified partner in sustainability

Dynaco’s efforts to provide you with the most durable doors possible have resulted in internationally recognised certifications that help you make the best choice possible to reach your sustainability goals. For instance both the Dynaco I-14F and Dynaco I-14P have been granted double points in the LEED and BREEAM assessments.

BREEAM - Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method

This sustainability certificate, developed in the UK, is one of the most recognised international standards for certification regarding user comfort, safety and health. It evaluates a building’s level of sustainability according to 10 criteria, ranging from waste management to use of materials.

LEED - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

This certificate is the American equivalent to the BREEAM one.  It comes in 4 different certification levels, ranging from pass, silver, gold and platinum.

Green Feet Award

On top of these international certifications, Dynaco received a Green Feet Award in 2020. The certificate - awarded annually by ABa Recycling - “aims at reducing the environmental footprint on the basis of performance in the environmental field.” ABa stands for responsibility, sustainability and societal entrepreneurship. ABa Recycling ensures that goods are recycled according to the European legislation and guarantees its customers the most ecological and economically socially responsible result.
